What a Soaker

Sunday June 17th 6:00AM
Last night was my second evening after the Neulasta and my third evening since receiving chemo, so I'm not sure which (amongst the other drugs I'm have to take) was responsible for me creating two lakes in the bed last night.  My pretty nightgown and my entire side of the King sized bed were soaked.  Thanks to Mum who helped me clean up, got me one of Wades long comfy t-shirts and dried off my side of the bed I managed to get a few more hours before it happened again.  I think I'm going to have to invest in a mattress pad at this rate and sleep on layers of towels.  Waldo of course helped in the only way a dog knows how, by creating a distinct cuddle zone between Mum and I so none of the yukky chemo junk could soak her side of the bed.
Mum my caregiver for this weekend.

The other weird side affect of the Neulasta is that it seems to take away my ability to effectively manage my limbs and fine motor skills. Walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night is a slow crawl along the wall and typing a blog - especially for such a grammatical/typo stickler as I am, is an arduous process.
I got a lovely message on Facebook today from a friend who was also my neighbour from 2004 until 2009.  She reminded me of how I've always enjoyed the "spice of life" and lived it to the fullest.  My thoughts were always, I'd better enjoy life because what if I get hit by a bus one day.  Well I certainly wasn't expecting a living, ugly transformer style bus that I would have to fight off with all my strength - oh and to make the fight easier for him he decided to compromise my immune system to have an advantage!  You don't know who you're dealing with ASSHOLE!  I know, I am swearing and I really hate doing that, however in this venue, it gives me strength, so please bleep out if it bothers you.
It's now 7am time for my first nap of the day as writing this short blog although it works wonders for me to get the mental stress and grief out, it also takes a lot of energy.  It's going to be a good day today, I think my Dad and his wife are coming up and I think my Husband is coming home.  Yippee

HI Michelle....thinking about you every day now. I can't empasize enough that you should look into the two day program at Inspire Health, it will help you to complement your conventional treatment with learning about diet, exercise, acupuncture, etc. I know you are heavy into chemo and all you can do is just take one day at a time...but please, have Wade or your mom look into when the next programs are, and see if you can't work it in somehow. Your treatment should be holistic and some of the things they can teach you is how to deal with the side effects of the chemotherapy. www.inspirehealth.ca
As for life after breast cancer...this weekend was the Rio Tinto Dragonboat regatta, there were 7 breast cancer survivor teams there. A local doctor started a study in 1995 with 24 women, to prove that upper body exercise could help prevent lymphedema (previous to that women were told they should not use or stress their upper body after breast cancer surgery). He was able to prove that it did in fact help, and his work has inspired 150 breast cancer survivor teams worldwide. Last year a composite crew went to the International Cancer Survivor regatta in Malaysia...we won 4 medals.
Today I came home with a bronze...I'm telling you this because I know you are so tough, and you will beat this hands down...it won't be easy but at the end of the road there are some blessings. Some of closest friends I have now are dragonboat survivors.

You will come out on top!

Michelle - I am soo glad you have so much support!! Especially when Wade has to work. I know the people around you are helping you be strong & again please be candid & ask if there's anything I can do. I still want to get this alkaline water to you & am going to fill up a couple jugs so if Wade or anyone of your family or friends is in the city & can meet me I'll plan to meet them! Let me know or I can plan to come up to Squamish sometime if that doesn't work. Hugs darling!!!!
