Napili Bay |
On one of our days in Maui we drove up to spend the day in Kapalua Bay. In our explorations we walked to this amazing place, the
Sea House Restaurant, right in Napili Bay. Boy was I glad we found this little gem.
The restaurant is attached to the
Napili Kai Beach Resort, a place we may consider for our next trip. You can access the Sea House from the beach or through the resort. It has a large patio with lots of umbrella's as well as two main seating areas inside. Along with that they have a lovely long bar which is mostly inside, but does have about four "belly up to the bar" seats on the patio (which you can see in one of my photos below).

Their menu is quite extensive and they have a good sized appetizer menu (Pupus) that is available from two until nine in the evening.
The Happy Hour is from two until five o'clock, so be aware, as most happy hours continue until six. You may think you are still enjoying Happy Hour as you merrily sip that last cocktail or two between five and six, but you are not, it's back to regular price then. During Happy Hour they offer their Prosecco for $6.00 which was great for me.

The Bar - check out the outdoor "Belly Up" seats at the end |
We went to the Sea House restaurant twice during our visit to Kapalua bay (which is just north of Napili Bay). We ordered some food for take out to have lunch on the beach, it was very inexpensive and delicious. We got Chicken Wings, Quesedilla's, Kalua Pork Taco and Tenderloin Bruschetta. That plus four soda's was under $45.00. Pretty decent for a great lunch for a family of four in Maui. While the kids hung on the beach Wade and I went back to have a nice cold one at the bar of the Sea House Restaurant, our bartender Paul was friendlier than anyone else here and was relatively quick with the service.

Napili Bay |
We didn't find the hostesses or any of the other servers very friendly at all, so my only complaint about this place is that the service leaves a lot to be desired. Most places greet you warmly and when hanging out at the bar it is meant to be fun and upbeat. This place was very unfriendly (except for the other patrons), perhaps it was a bad day that day, so when back in Maui I will give this place another chance, if not for the great view and the food, at least to see if the service has improved.
Tip: It looked like it could get very busy (getting a spot at the bar was challenging), so if that is your plan for Happy Hour, make sure you get there early.

Looking North to Kapalua Bay |
Napili Bay is a place where I will come back next time I am in Maui. It is much busier than Kapalua Bay, so if you are looking for a quieter beach, walk five minutes north, but both are very beautiful bays.
Kate got to hang out with a turtle that had come right into the bay at Kapalua Bay, here are a few photos.
